One of the most adventurous trails in Boquete. Used by many tourist to enjoy the feeling of a notorious cloud forest. Taking you up to 2430 mts (7972 ft) a.s.L. Not an easy hike, but an exciting challenge.
On the trail we mostly find monkeys like the famous Howler and with nice weather we can expect THERESPLENDENT QUETZAL. Another plus is the chance to see both towns around Barú Volcano.
The International Park which is shared between Costa Rica (Caribbean La Amistad and Pacific La Amistad Conservation Areas) and Panama, following a recommendation by UNESCO after the park’s inclusion in the World Heritage Site list.
Important to know that in this areas and in all Panama, Hunting is ILEGAL, so watch out for fines and time in prison if what you seek is poaching.
In the last 18 years new expeditions have been done in the Quetzal Trail finding 7,500 plants, 17,000 beetles and 380 herpetological collections were made and deposited in the national collections of Costa Rica and Panama.
These expeditions also led to the discovery of 12 plant species, one dung beetle species, 15 amphibian and three reptile species new to science.
